Sarzana is one of most important acoustic music festivals in Europe.
Years of gaining reputation, artist caliber, exhibitors and public interest have taken it to the level of a renowned appointment for all serious acoustic players.
This year Roberto Dalla Vecchia played on the main stage and on various appointments presenting his new “Hands in Hands” CD.He received the appreciation he deserved from the public with a growing number of loyal fans and reviewers that follow his works.
Luca Francioso was also present for a double performance to present his new work “Il Segno”.
Andrea Fascetti offered a virtuoso gig with his left-hand seven string Manne bass.
Then we met again the Hussy Hicks with Tracy Stephens on bass, specifically on a Manne Newport Satin Special with Italian walnut top, which she has used since the 2009 Sarzana meeting.
“I’ve just changed the strings on it. It is always perfect, working fine. Everywhere I go and I play, I got compliments on the bass’ tone”.
I tried to convince Tracy that when this happens, it is because of the bassist not the bass. But she insisted it is because of the bass, so we had to agree that is because of BOTH of these elements…the player and her instrument.
Hussy Hicks is on a six-month tour of Europe (Germany) and then later on to the US. If you hear of them playing nearby, don’t miss the concert.
To me Hussy Hicks expresses the faith in true music as art…..truly inspired live music.
