November 15-16 at the Estrel Hotel in Berlin. This was the appointment written on my agenda and on another 120 agendas of exhibitors and on another 7,000 agendas of high qualified visitors who attend the show. It was a self promoted event, a premiere that surpassed even the most optimistic expectations. A show just for small artisan guitar producers, with a great deal of originality and ideas.
Michael Spalt and Jaha Ruokangas, President and Vice President of the European Guitar Builders Association, on the day prior to the show reported they had no idea what to expect. Nobody had until the doors opened welcoming a wide variety of guitar enthusiasts, players, professionals, amateurs, suppliers and builders from around the world.
The range of instruments was impressive. The show grounds were quiet as demonstrations of the instruments were made only in specified soundproof rooms, so the experiences both for the exititors and for the visitors were very good, tailored for our specific world of personal relations, as all instruments needed to be explained and/or the curiosity of visitors need some storytelling about projecting, engineering or how to develop and buy a custom instrument.
Thanks again to all the fantastic crew who made this show possible. To Frank Deimel, Tania Spalt, Kora Junger and Emma Elftorp for the perfect attention to every detail.
And to me, the best feel of the whole happening was that it this event is something that we all needed. For the exibitors, to get the attention they deserve, and for the visitors, as the interest in innovative and “off the beaten track” instruments is growing, is real, is important, and worldwide this is an incoming wave.
