Wonderboom

South African rock icons Wonderboom are on their second nationwide tour of the year, a tour that will see them visiting 11 cities and 19 venues around the country in support of their critically acclaimed sixth studio album "City of Gold".
With the albums' second single, "Best Side", currently charting on national radio, the band is excited about taking the new material on the road.

Gianluca Mosole

Top Italian Guitarist Gianluca Mosole released "No Title" a new CD with a dozen tracks showcasing his talents as a musician and master guitar player. His smooth and funky feel is always in balance, between relaxed lines and crazy kinetic surprises, with a supreme harmonic attention and a mature language on the frets.. www,gianlucamosole.com

Maurizio Verna

Maurizio is a 10-string nylon player that is touring and recording with a special guitar model we developed together in the 2000. His current projects are all in the direction of rediscovery and rearranging vintage Italian popular music. He reported that the 10-string Semiacustica is a unsurpassed live performance tool: reliable under all conditions and with a very good amplified tone. www.maurizionerna.it
Dominique di Piazza

Dominique Di Piazza just released the new CD "Princess Sita" for Picantorecords. The CD has 12 tracks that are mainly his own compositions, a very high class, top tier performance of Dominique's incredible talents.
We met him this month at the EUROBASSDAY in Verona, where he performed a concert in the evening and, as you see in the picture, had lots of fun on a 6-string together with with Pippo Matino and Lincoln Goines of Mike Stern’s band.
You can see the video clip on the
Manne youtube channel. Since last summer, Dominique has been touring with a custom built Manne Trea, but we just finished his new bass, which you can find also in this month's Manne gallery on the website.
It is a heavily chambered bass with a new top shaping, 33" scale, Benedetti pickups, EYB custom bridge with fretless simulation and a Glockenklang active circuit featuring an extra coil split for the bridge pickup. The top is beautiful Mastergrade walnut burl.

Sun eats hours

Sun Eats Hours, with their jumping bass player Lemma, just ended a super summer tour, a hundred concerts in Italy, Germany, Austria, Swiss, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Slovenia and Japan. They are now on duty, working on a new CD to be released in Summer-08. www.suneatshours.com

Candlemass
"ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! A NICE PIECE OF DOOM, HEHE..." . These are the first words from Leif Headling of Candlemass, the top Swedish doom metal Band.

The new Manne custom bass has a simple but bold dark look with metal crosses inlayed in the fingerboard and custom black artwork on the body top.

CUSTOM Graphics

"This bass ROCKS big time!
I've been showboating this thing everywhere I can and everyone loves the way it looks and sounds. I'm very very proud to own it."
Steve Schlinkert
Steve is a bass player from the San Francisco Bay Area, that was the first customer for our new digital printing process available on Newport and Ventura models. We supply a pdf with the shape of the instruments on which you can design your own custom graphics. We can apply a satin or hi-gloss finish over the printed artwork.

CUSTOM Inlays

Another new option feature is the possibility of having custom inlays. They are made with engraved metal and can feature your custom artwork you can supply with a pdf file.
The first example was made for an Italian rock band Sinestesia, and the crosses are installed on the bass of Candlemass' Leif Edling.

GENOVA CBE Guitar Festival

On October 20 and 21 we exhibited at Genoa’s third Guitar festival, a good occasion to see old friends and develop some new Mannemaniacs. Thanks to the staff and to long time Manne customer Mariano e Francesca for the Genoa sightseeing tour!

Kaumudi

Aldo Tagliapietra, former bass player of ORME, is a long time Manne customer: He owns the first manne Bass built in '87, then he had us build him a 6-string, a 5-string and three doublenecks, so he is a frequent visitor of our shop.
But this time his request was very uncommon: a kaumudi, an Indian instrument, to be made in an electric version. Aldo is now playing in a George Harrison tribute band with a very uncommon line-up: guitar, sitar, harmonium, drums, and kaumudi. Said and done. The instrument already had its debut with very good comments and reviews.
Korina body, neck-thru, 2 Manne humbuckers, Manne tuning bridge and string lock at the nut.
The body shape was a specific request as the instruments should be played upright while sitting down on the floor.

Doubleneck

I met Alessandro Batazzi on my last trip in South Africa.
Born in Rome, Italy, he moved to South Africa a decade ago, where he is now chief of a musical out in Sun City.
As he took some holidays in October coming back to Italy, he decided to come to visit the shop and to order a doubleneck.
We developed it with him, choosing dimensions, neck distances, angles and measurements, tailoring it to him so it fits perfectly.
A 6-string and a 12-string with piezo was requested; we heavily chambered it to reduce its weight and we used a very nice poplar burled top.
You can see the result in the
gallery.

SUDAFRICA

A competition was held by Jip/ LAPA Publishers for a book they published. The book "suurlemoen" (lemon in English) is a story about a band and love, written by Jaco Jacobs. The boy who won the guitar is Leon Bezuidenhout from Rustenburg (near Sun City). The guitar was presented to him by John-Henry Opperman of a band called 'Klopjag' (famous/popular band singing in Afrikaans language). The trio is completed by Miemie du Plessis representing the LAPA publishers.

MEET show in Milan, Italy

This new Italian show for musical instruments was held September 21-24 in the brand new, futuristic "Fiera di Milano". 42,000 visitors and we almost see them all! We shared the booth with a collective of exhibitors in the "Acoustic guitar village" organized by the Armadillo Club, the representative of the Sarzana festival, the biggest guitar event in Italy.

This location highlighted our series of Acoustic guitars that received big attention. We also celebrated this particular atmosphere organizing together with Roberto dalla Vecchia, great Italian Flatpicker with his Mannedesign Dreadnought, the "FlatMEETing" first flatpickers gathering.
We exhibited the first Raven Bass and Guitar with all the best of our production. Friends, Mannemaniacs, and customers created a continuous crowd in our corner keeping us very busy.

Mauro Natali, nominated president of the Mannemaniacs on the field, was present giving information and advices to the public, with a great deal of skill and passion.

Arrivederci!
