News from Mr.

10-11-2004
I'm back after three months, with a newsletter full of announcements. There are things I shouldn't tell you at all because they are still in evolution and therefore I risk giving you news that is incorrect and incomplete...but how can I not tell you?! So, let's go ahead with the latest Manne gossip and eventually we'll deny everything...just like one does with gossip...

Necks in Ash for basses: We have produced a neck with the new laminate, that I told you about in the last newsletter, together with ash instead of maple. The result turns out to be perfect for a solid defined sound on the fretted bass. Then we took some weight out of the body using basswood and sycamore with great results. There's nothing left to do but try them out!

Manne T-shirts
.... nice, aren't they? Our American distributor had them made...so don't call us to get one because we don't have any but write to
Richard!!!

Glenn Hughes: We're putting the final touches on a signature model for the legendary Glenn. You can see below the first prototype (already used live) and the most recent version, completed only a few days ago. We'll be back to keep you updated on new developments as soon as possible.

Latest news!!!!!

On Friday, September 18th Glenn filmed a video for his new CD that will be released in early 2005.

Keep it up Glenn!!!! Wow!!! It almost makes me want to cry....

Bass neck attachment: following the system perfected on the Taos we have a metal neck joint plate that ensures a strong attachement to the body with steel screws. This device makes it possible to move the neck toward the edge of the body making even the last frets easy to reach. It also makes it possible to mount the trea pickup very close to t

New line of basses: we're also working on a new line of basses with a body in basswood and the neck in ash-laminate with alnico pickups. The body shape is flat with the top sligtily rounded. Other details are still being defined and we plan to have them in production as soon as possible.

Taos relic: Made on special order for the shop "The Metronome" of Roseto and Pescara, the idea came from Gabriele Porta. We had a lot of fun with the Manne Relic that challenged us creatively to faithfully imitate the results of decades of Texas flat-pickers, rivers of accidentally spilled beers, smoke, burns and scrapes enough to make a sadomasochist feel jealous...
The final result has been well-received by all who have tried it and has a kind of "Back to the Future" effect or of space-time paradox...it gave us the feeling of work well done, just like having in your hands an ax that has endured a thousand battles.

New line of guitars: Here's the first prototype of a new line of guitars with a flat body and a lightly rounded top. The body is basswood, a wood that is light and well-suited to this body that is a little wider than the Taos. We're still working to define all the details, but this pickup configuration has turned out to be well-balanced and has great versatility.
Upcoming events in Italy:

Chitarra appendice dell'anima: Now accepting applicants for the first guitar competition dedicated exclusively to players of electric and electrified acoustic guitars, taking place at the BLUES HOUSE of Milan at the end of October. The prize.... the guitar pictured above!!!!!

That's all for now and I think it's enough! Share your comments with us: they are always useful and we take them into consideration.
